Scrapbooking Pen OrganizationHowever you decide to organize your scrapbooking pen sets, remember that pens and markers need to be stored horizontally so that the ink distributes evenly. This is good news for you if you are using storage drawers and have some extra space. They can be a great place to store your pens. However, if you are like me and need those pens a little more accessible, try keeping them on your table or desktop.
If you are on a budget, look for a pen cup at an office supply store that has been divided into compartments. Then, simply lay it on its side and you have easy pen storage. Other cheap pen storage solutions: tin cans (be sure to file down any sharp edges), plastic school pencil cases, kitchen utensil organizers, or clear acrylic boxes.
Color is key in scrapbook layout design, so organizing pens by color allows you to find that perfect accent or complimentary color easily. I sort according to the following colors: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Pink, Purple, Naturals/White and Grey/Black. I then organize my pens by thickness and type (marker, gel, etc.).
