I totally agree that using only your eyes add to the mystery! However I am a huge fan of altering pictures by blowing up, color change and most of all cropping. This is a great example of the drama that cam be accomplished when you are not afraid to take the scissors to the photo. Great job!
I love the mystery of your layout! They say the "eyes are the window to the soul." The photos of just your eyes set the tone for the whole layout. As far as techniques go, I really like the aging and antiquing you've done with the background paper.
This layout has left me wanting more. I can't see what the journaling says, but I'm definitely curious.
