Cheap Scrapbook Supplies
It shouldn't surprise you to learn that the majority of money spent on scrapbooking isn't spent on expensive die-cuts, organizational systems, or high-tech tools. Much more money is spent on the little things - adhesive, paper, embellishments, stickers - these 'old standby' supplies add up quickly. Fortunately, there are lots of little ways to keep these little supplies from draining your pocketbook. - Shop Discount Stores
Walmart, Big Lots, and Target - these discount stores frequently carry cheap scrapbook supplies. Don't forget Michaels, JoAnn's and Hobby Lobby. Not only do they run great sales almost weekly, but the 40% off coupons are readily available through the newspaper and online. Stock up on the sale items that you will use no matter what the layout....glue, refills, stock paper colors etc. - BEWARE of Compulsive Buying
That is probably the largest factor in us scrapping fanatics spending too much money. It doesn't matter how beautiful the paper is, if you never have a layout to use it in, it is a wasted purchase. - Buy Albums at Office Supply Stores
| Three ring binders make great scrapbooking albums and allow you to add more layouts easily over time. If the cheaper model you find in the office supply store seems a little drab, perk it up by embellishing the outside. | |
- Keep your SCRAPS!
Scrap paper is great for making cards. Once you have a layout complete, you probably have enough scrap paper and embellishments to complete at least one card. If you are not interested in cards, then use your scraps for other layouts. Hole punched or cut shapes can be used as background for another design. Circle and tag shapes are great for journaling or titles. - Get Creative in a Pinch
Oops, I just ran out of glue...No need to worry. Use generic stickers, heart, stars etc, to hold down the corners of your pictures. They also can be a lifesaver to cover up small mistakes! - Shop in Fabrics and Sewing
Ribbons can be very useful in scrapbooking. They are cheap when purchased in the fabric section, come in various lengths and widths, and the color and design selection is endless. Use them as page borders, outlines, and as a ribbon decoration itself. They can also be used as the book opener or to embellish the outside of an album. - Get Ideas from Others
